The lovely men of my life

07:14 Jul 17 2006
Times Read: 573

well my first boyfriend

although the relationship when ever I phoned to see if he wanted to go out any where then he would say he was at his dad's then once I phoned up to ask him out and a girl answered, she said that dean was sleeping and she would give me his message but at the end of the call she said 'oh your dean's other girlfriend' I asked what she meant and she wouldn't tell me and put the phone down. Later I phoned up and Dean answered, I asked him what she had meant and he put the phone on the side and I could hear him talk with her and she was taking control of the conversation. Eventually she picked up the phone and said dean says you’re dumped and slammed the phone down. The next morning I phoned again in a real state and said I wouldn't take it unless he told me himself, he put the phone on the side and I heard them talking again. Eventually I think she picked up and told me I was dumped again. This was the day I started self harming.

then I’d say Janek

I was with a guy called Myles and Janek tempted me and I gave in me and Myles went on a break and I got with Janek he said that it wouldn't work 'cos he still loved him ex. then about a month latter we were talking on msn at about 11 or something and he asked me to meet up with him (he lived about 1/4 of a mile away or something) and I was like sure thinking we were going on a night walk or some thing, naive angle, and we met up and went to him house and the something’s happened which I regret more that self harming I feel cheapened and used. I left at 4 am so that no one in my house would notice I was gone and the next day he acted like nothing had happened I was a one night fuck and he was a cherry hound.

then there is Alex

I was with Myles again and he attempted to tempt me I was better this time but he was persistent and would text me telling me he loved me oh what a fool I believed him! Well eventually I decided I would end it with Myles as I had been a bitch and things would not work. And I went to see Alex and things happened about a week after he said he wasn't sure he loved me like that and things like that. and we would phone each other every night at first and then it was less and less he phone me and I was in a real state, this was after Jan and I told Alex about that and he told me that he thought he had found the love of his life, she was 12! He is 17! And within the week they were together and he told me that she was not a virgin at 12! And that he would sleep with her is she wanted. The horrors of life...

*Sigh* sorry twas nice to vent though

Writters Praise

19:11 Jul 13 2006
Times Read: 575

At school i had the oppotunity to meet a writer and talk to her about my writings. Her name is Lee Weatherly you may know of her, she is a childrens author. I gave her a copy of 'Across Two Graves' and the prolouge of 'The Hunter's Kiss' and she e-mailed me this today. I thought i would share my jubilations with you.

Hi Amy,

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you; life has been manic

recently! But I've had a chance now to finish reading the pages from Across Two

Graves that you gave me, along with the opening of The Hunter's Kiss, and I

really enjoyed them both.

I thought Across Two Graves was a gripping read; it definitely kept me turning

pages! I liked the love story between Nicholai and Lucile (especially her

internal conflict at loving him when he's destroyed her family), and the

unexpected twist that the story took into the vampires' coven. You really kept

me interested in the story, so that I wanted to know what happened next - well

done.

Plus you have a wonderful way with words. I loved descriptions such as 'his

coat flaring out behind him like a dark river flowing from its source,' and

'They stood by her side like powerful gargoyles that could turn from stone to

protect her.' I thought these were just lovely images - very vivid and

evocative, and I could see them instantly in my mind. You have the writer's

knack of seeing something yourself, and getting it across to others with your

word-pictures - a very good sign!

I think the only criticism I would make was that I wanted you to slow down

sometimes. For instance, Nicholai and Lucile fall in love very quickly, and I

wasn't exactly sure why each of them fell for the other. This sort of thing

often works well if it's handled more gradually, across several chapters, so

that when your characters finally come together it's something that readers have

been longing and waiting for, rather than something that happens instantly.

Practise taking your time a bit more. Let readers be intrigued by the mystery

of what's to come, and hold back with 'the good stuff' until the perfect time.

I think The Hunter's Kiss is a wonderful premise, and hope you keep writing it.

I don't really think you need the prologue that explains the world, though - it

would be more powerful to just start the action without explaining a thing, and

let us slowly realise for ourselves what the world is like. (Holding back with

the good stuff again!)

Thanks very much for showing your work to me - I really enjoyed reading it, and

think you're definitely a writer! Keep at it. I think you'll get there someday

- you certainly have the talent.

Keep in touch!

All best wishes,

Lee Weatherly
